"Precious Life", produced with Joey Waronker (Beck, Yeasayer, Atoms For Peace), is the new album from Los Angeles songwriter AM. Returning from an ultra prolific period with electro soul partner Shawn Lee, AM summons a dreamy sound on his new solo outing. With Waronker behind the drums and the board and with AM doing just about everything else, the two carefully craft a record that is honest and emotional, yet swings and pulses. Restrictions work in AM's favor. Simple keyboard lines rely more on tone than prowess, intricate finger-picking pays homage to the best acoustic records while drum machines and topical synths accompany. Music made for the headphones...the big ones that is.
The album title track "Precious Life" delivers a bare, soulful guitar driven track rotating the question, “Who are you, with your precious life?” which openly critiques social hierarchies of this time. "The Move" glides along on an analog wave of minimal synth stylings with light tight soul underneath...a last ditch effort at romance for a jaded bachelor. Instrumental cuts like "Aqua Velva" soar with Nashville tunings, consumer model keyboards, banjo and organ. The drumming is raw, a treat for fans of Waronker's playing and "Precious Life" captures sonically what it's title suggests.
The record is intimate, up close...even the groovers. You're hearing the details clearly and, hopefully, appreciating the sensation.

This news has been a long time coming, but I am releasing a new AM album in the Spring of 2016 titled "Precious Life"-- this album is 25 tracks including bonus tracks and instrumentals.

I've been working on it with good friend and collaborator Joey Waronker for what seems like forever. Some of you may know Joey from bands such as Beck and Atoms For Peace or from his productions for artists such as Other Lives and Yeasayer. For me it was an honor and a privilege to work with such an outstanding drummer and producer.

This is as honest an album as I could have made having played every single instrument on it myself (save the drums and percussion...that would be foolish ; )

As with the last AM & Shawn Lee release we're offering some super advanced Limited Edition pre-order opportunities that will only be available for a short time. Blue Vinyl!

The album design was done in Paris by the amazing artist Hung Ton and the Limited Edition custom blue vinyl was again pressed at world renowned Record Technology, Inc.

We're also doing a super limited, eco-friendly gatefold CD that could have your name as a big fat THANK YOU for making it all happen. I've decided to put this out myself so please consider your involvement as a means to help fund the record.
